Allison + George
Elizabeth Street Garden and The Bowery Hotel

Tell us about your wedding day look...How did you know your Monique Lhuillier dress was the one?
I wore my best friend's veil (it was her mother's). For my shoes, I wore fuchsia Manolo Blahnik sandals for the ceremony, parade and first dance and for the reception I had custom converse with FUCHS FOR LIFE embroidered on them.
My somethings borrowed all came from my mother, my sister and my stepdaughter. They each gave them to me while we were getting ready at the Bowery Hotel before the wedding. It was such a special day that start out with clouds and rain and moved to full, glorious sunshine by 2pm.
WHAt other fashion accessories did you choose for the day?

Tell us about your beautiful bouquet
"It was a stunning color explosion of my favorite flowers: roses and peonies, tuberose. It was breathtaking."

Describe the feeling you felt when seeing each other for the first time on the wedding day.
"We felt ready. It was a bit surreal, but so, so wonderful. It was like a homecoming, and it was incredibly calming."

We both knew it early on, and in the same month, actually, just at separate moments.
It was August 2017. We were having coffee one morning in the East Village (at what would become our favorite spot) and I looked at him and was so overcome with love and real joy that I began to cry. I knew this was special and that I was in love with him.
George knew he was in love with me one morning. I was in the closet getting dressed, and it just hit him.

When did you know you found 'the one'?

Why did you choose the bowery hotel for your reception Location?
I lived around the corner from The Bowery and have always loved it's old-world elegance and style. It's warm, it's inviting, it transports you. We have sp ent a few staycations there and think it's the epitome of downtown New York...and us.

Tell us more about the looks your bridesmaids wore.
They each selected Lela Rose gowns from the Spring 2019 collection. Each of their dresses were different (but similar) and were perfect for the garden affair.

Why did you select Elizabeth Street Garden for your ceremony?
The Elizabeth Street Garden is a magical place. We knew we wanted to be outside, with the sights and sounds of the city surrounding us, ushering us into our new life together. The garden and statuary is in the heart of one of our favorite neighborhoods, and is only a marching band walk away from the Bowery Hotel.

What were your thoughts when walking down the aisle?
"Sheer joy and excitement. I locked eyes with George and the world fell away. It was better than I thought it could ever be."

WHAT SONG DID YOU WALK DOWN THE AISLE TO?
"Heart of Gold" by Neil Young. I set a daily reminder on my phone in 2014 to 'keep me searching for a heart of gold.' I finally found one on June 22, 2017.

TELL US ABOUT A FAVORITE MOMENT FROM THE CEREMONY
"It was all pretty incredible, but exchanging vows was my very favorite. That and when Sam pronounced us husband and wife, he pulled out (and put on) a fox hat as our last name is Fuchs, which is fox in German."

"Kissing George at the end of the aisle was one of my most memorable moments from the weekend."

After cocktails in the garden, the party was led to the bowery hotel by a marching band playing 'Crazy In Love' in a New Orleans style second line, while guests waved custom hankies.

"Marching through the streets of Nolita with a marching band, guests were dancing, onlookers came out into the streets, it was exhilarating and celebratory. So many people lined the sidewalks to wave and smile and shout congratulations."

"It was Derby Day and I'm a big Derby fan, so we served Mint Juleps at the cocktail hour."

"Luckybird Bakery designed our cake. The flavors were - Scarlet (Red Velvet), Almond, Vanilla Rose, and Dark Chocolate Rose."

"The toasts from our Matron of Honor + Best Man (our sister + brother) were personal, memorable, and incredibly moving."

What song did you dance to for your first dance?
"Nothing's Gonna Change This Love I Have" by Sam Cooke
